The FFL uses a 5 v 5 format (four field players + goalkeeper), with two 23-minute halves (running clock), and unlimited "on the fly" substitutions. Referees are provided, with games played in Frederick-area gymnasiums.
Futsal is the FIFA recognized form of small-sided indoor soccer (the word is a contraction of the Spanish 'fútbol sala'). It is played between two teams who each have five players on the court at any one time, with rolling substitutes and a smaller ball that is heavier and less bouncy than a traditional soccer ball (see What is futsal?). The FFL Open to all players and teams from 9U to 19U (including adult divisions, and is played in a variety of local gymnasiums, including Friends Meeting School, Monocacy Valley Church, and others. Please contact Dave Shannon with any questions.
