FC Frederick Improves to 2-0 in NPSL League Play with 5-1 Win!
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Cole Hellert and Robbie Ryerson each had a goal and one assist as FC Frederick handled Alexandria Rough Diamonds 5-1 in NPSL action Friday night at Catholic University.
FC Frederick improves to 2-0 and clashes with defending NPSL Mid-Atlantic champion Annapolis Blues FC, also 2-0, on Sunday at 7 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Prep.
Hellert was fouled in the penalty box and converted the ensuing penalty kick as FC Frederick took a 1-0 lead. Hellert then served up a corner kick that Haven Thomas headed into the goal for a 2-0 lead. FC Frederick went up 3-0 when a Rough Diamonds player accidentally played a ball into his own goal.
Five minutes into the second half, Ryerson assisted a goal by Garrett Potts as FC Frederick's lead grew to 4-0. Ryerson then scored an unassisted goal for a 5-0 margin. Alexandria ended the shutout late in the second half.
Noah Kump was in goal for FC Frederick, playing 80 minutes. He allowed one goal and had two saves. Luke Ryerson finished out the match in goal.
