FC Frederick Hosts Tryouts for 2025-26 MLS NEXT Teams In Collaboration with West Virginia Soccer!
FC Frederick is excited to announce a groundbreaking collaboration with West Virginia Soccer to place boys’ teams into the MLS NEXT platform beginning in the 2025–26 season.
Two Options Available: Players will be evaluated for placement into one of two tiers within the MLS Next structure:
- - Tier 1: U13 (2013), U14 (2012), U15 (2011). Teams compete within the core MLS Next league structure.
- - Tier 2: U13, U14, U15, U16 (2010), U17 (2009), U19 (2008/07). Tier 2 is a new offering from MLS NEXT, designed to mirror the high standards of the Tier 1 platform while maintaining a more regionally focused schedule. Importantly, MLS NEXT Tier 2 allows for participation on High School teams.
Why MLS NEXT? MLS Next is widely regarded as one of the top youth development platforms in the United States. It is built around a progressive and innovative approach to the full-sided game, placing emphasis not just on competition, but on long-term player growth. Benefits include:

- - Access to top coaching and curriculum standards
- - Increased visibility for future opportunities at the collegiate and professional levels, while fostering a deeper understanding of the game through meaningful developmental environments.
MLS NEXT Tryouts will be conducted on a rolling basis with tryout dates added and announced as needed. In addition to the scheduled tryouts below, players may contact Josh Gilmore or Colin Viti to set up an individual evaluation opportunity. Here is the up-to-date schedule of tryout dates & times:

Location: Oakdale High School (5850 Eaglehead Drive, Ijamsville, MD 21754)
Age Groups/Times:
U13 (2013): 5:00-6:30 (Aux. Field)
U14 (2012): 6:30-8:00 (Aux. Field)
U15 (2011): 8:00-9:30 (Aux. Field)
U16 (2010): 5:00-6:30 (Stadium Field)
U17 (2009): 6:30-8:00 (Stadium Field)
U19 (2008/07): 8:00-9:30 (Stadium Field)
NOTE: If you are NOT selected for an MLS NEXT team, or prefer to play in a traditional FC Frederick program/league such as the USYS National League South Atlantic Conference (USYS-SAC) or National Capital Soccer League (NCSL), please register for the "2025-26 Club Team Evaluations” which will be posted soon.
